For those of you not in the know, TV siblings Dexter and Deb Morgan (played by Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, respectively) are actually a married couple in real life. Well, they were, anyway. Reports Entertainment Weekly:
After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing. An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.
Man, this is a f*cking bummer. I always enjoy when an onscreen couple has some kind of love story behind it (No, you’re a fag! Shut up!), like how Charlie and the Waitress on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” are actually married. True story. Anyway, at least they split amicably, which, in Hollywood, probably means no one was beaten with a golf club or stabbed repeatedly. I hate to hear about this kind of thing happening, especially since they weren’t one of those tabloid cover, attention whore celebrity couples. Oh, well. Maybe now Debra will finally get with Masuka. She already knows what he’s into.
